Techshot is a contract new product development company. Most of its commercial customers are small start up enterprises such as Mavizon Technologies (www.mavizontech.com), one of the stars of this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
With 25 mechanical, electrical and software engineers, plus a staff of scientists, Techshot designs, prototypes and readies for manufacturing new products. Industries for which it develops new products include aerospace, automotive, green tech, defense, consumer products and medical devices.
Techshot offers a deep understanding of complex scientific and engineering problems and scales its resources to meet customer needs. Entrepreneurs seek the company’s product and technology development capabilities for three reasons:
1. Innovation. Techshot has a proven track record of finding one-of-a kind engineering solutions and creating prototypes for products that have never before been conceived. Its research and development capabilities primarily entail: performing feasibility studies, conducting design reviews and designing and building prototypes. But it also provides other project-based product and technology development-related services that free companies to focus on their existing products and day-to-day operations.
2. Its deep understanding of both science and engineering. Even when companies have their own engineering departments, they often need technical and scientific support from a number of outside sources. Techshot can be their single source. That’s because it offers the combined services of experienced engineers, technicians, and scientists under one roof. Equally appealing, Techshot can be hired as required. It does the job it is contracted to do and then goes away – eliminating the expense of hiring full-time professionals.
3. Its team approach to problem-solving. With each new project, Techshot gathers all of its engineers, technicians, and scientists around the table at one time, instead of calling on consultants in a piecemeal fashion. This is a more efficient approach, obviously. But it also assures unity of purpose and the greatest chance of success.
Techshot was founded in 1988 by John Vellinger and Mark Deuser, engineers from Lafayette and Floyds Knobs, Indiana, respectively. Besides its 22,000 square foot headquarters in Greenville, the company also opened an office at the Purdue Technology Center of Southeast Indiana last fall.
